See the "goings on" at Water Street Dan's, a multilevel club on West 9th St from approximately 1984 to 1986.
Dan Julock decided to close the club's basement pig room because of its contribution to the spread of HIV.
He ran informational seminars about HIV safety in the upper floors of the club. But too many patrons sought their fun elsewhere.
Water Street Dan's later became Detour and then the first Grid Nightclub, both gay establishments.
